This is an example of a rain garden gone bad.  The original construction apparently used the native clay soils as the rain garden mix.  By 2015, the rain garden was a swamp inhabited by frogs and cattails.  We removed the swamp, reshaped the excavation, imported rain garden soils and planted over 2,000 sedges.
